County Durham business launches new regional offices
Darlington family business, Stone Technical Services, is bucking the general trend by opening two new regional offices to cope with an increase in work around the UK.
The company has launched a new office in Cheshire and re-located its London site to a more central location.
Stone now has premises in Cheadle Hulme near Stockport, close to Piccadilly Circus on Orange Street in central London, Pinner in Middlesex and its headquarters in Darlington.
Since the turn of the year, the company has seen an increase in new contracts around the country.
In London, Stone's restoration experts have been contracted to carry out condition surveys on Westminster Methodist Church and at Brompton Oratory, also known as the London Oratory Church, which is the second largest Catholic church in London dating back to the 1800s. Also in London, Stone's team will be carrying out more conservation work at the Royal Courts of Justice as part of a long-running partnership.
And, further north, Stone has completed a contract with HSBC to carry out façade works at banks in Rotherham, Barton-on-Humber and Selby.
Stone Technical Services was established in 1998 by brothers Dave and Graham Stone. The business now employs a team of 28 and is planning to grow the workforce throughout 2011 both in the North East and around the UK.
Stone specialises in all aspects of high level maintenance, lightning conductor installation and steeplejack services as well as restoration and masonry refurbishment projects on churches, museums, clock towers, castles, spires and historic buildings.
The company works all over the UK on a variety of projects ranging from restoration work on high profile buildings such as St Paul's Cathedral and Selfridges in London and for organisations such as English Heritage and the National Trust to industrial clients such as INEOS Plant Utilities and Teesside Power Station.
Managing director, Dave Stone said: "The opening of the new offices reflects our commitment to steadily grow and develop around the UK to put a North East business on the map. Cheshire was an obvious location as it's central to many projects for us and we decided to relocate to bigger and more convenient premises in London as we are now working a lot in that area."
