Concrete plans for Darlington company’s growth
One of the UK’s fastest-growing restoration and high level maintenance firms is launching a new division to cope with a major influx of work since the start of the year.
Darlington-based Stone Technical Services is launching a specialist concrete repair department, known as Stone Refurbishment, which will create four new jobs in the coming months.
The major growth of this side of the business is largely because of the damaging effects of environmental pollution and extreme weather which cause buildings constructed more than 20 years ago to fall into disrepair.
Stone’s concrete repair specialists, who have many years’ experience in the field, have worked on projects for a variety of buildings including County Hall in Durham, Yorkshire Coast College in Scarborough and the University of York.
Their experts carry out concrete repairs and refurbishments such as erosion and fissure repairs, thermal imaging surveys and cathodic protection to structures like bridges, culverts, dwellings, shopping centres, car parks and listed buildings as well as providing specialist access systems, carbonation coating and façade cleaning.
Stone Technical Services employs 26 staff at its headquarters in Darlington and also at its offices in Middlesex. The company plans to crate around 6 new jobs in the next year and open more new regional offices.
Stone specialises in all aspects of high level maintenance, lightning conductor installation and steeplejack services as well as restoration and masonry refurbishment projects on churches, museums, clock towers, castles, spires and historic buildings.
The company works all over the UK on a variety of high profile buildings such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Selfridges in London and for organisations such as English Heritage and the National Trust as well as for well known industrial clients such as INEOS Plant Utilities and Teesside Power Station.
Managing director, Dave Stone said: “Stone has many years’ experience of working on concrete repairs and renovations but we have seen such a rapid growth in this area in the last three months that we felt the time was now right to launch a dedicated department.
“Our team has some of the best qualifications and skills in the sector and, thanks to our related knowledge and work in areas such as restoration and lightning protection, we’re able to provide a complete, efficient package to our clients.”
